The Mason 44 is a beautiful, capable ocean-going sailboat with graceful sweeping lines, beautiful overhangs and a full keel. The large rudder provides excellent turning ability and the long keel gives tremendous directional control in all conditions. The rudder sits up four inches from the keel bottom providing a grounding safety assurance and is secured in place with a heavy bronze shoe. The cutter rig gives you different sail configurations that will add comfort and safety in the high seas. Both headsails are mounted on shaffer roller-furlers and lead to the cockpit for ease of use and safety. Engine placement is below the salon sole to provide quieter running. It also provides excellent engine access and allows for a straight shaft, direct drive. With the 3 blades “Max-Prop” angle perpendicular to the water plane you get greater efficiency and performance.
The boat is currently located in Marina Palmira in La Paz Mexico and the slip is available to pass along to the new owner if desired.

The companionway is offset to starboard and that allows for a double berth aft cabin for a comfortable long distance passage, even if you are heading upwind against a choppy sea (which seems to always be the case…). The private state room V-berth, is another double berth cabin, with the head just next to it to the port side.The U-shaped salon on the port side is roomy and comfortable and can be used as a single berth. The starboard side has a long settee with lee-cloth that will provide another single berth.6’5″ headroom, makes this boat a comfortable live-aboard even for the taller sailors among us, and as they know – many times is hard to find.

Teak & Holly cabin sole, the interior is exquisitely crafted in teak, hand rubbed and varnished with 7 coats of satin varnish. Dinette table, chart table, hatch interiors and the companionway are finished in gloss varnish.The sturdy construction includes 10 full length longitudinal stringers and it is built to fit “Lloyds” specifications with Vinyl-ester resin used in its initial laminates. To add strength and stiffness, the deck to hull joint is through bolted with a 5200 adhesive compound and the deck is a molded FRP sandwich. A nonskid pattern makes it a safer trip when need to get out of the cockpit under way.All winches are self-tailing, 6 top hatches, 10 stainless-steel portholes and 5 stainless-steel dorade vents, allow for a good light and good ventilation throughout the boat. A stainless-steel mast pull-pit gives you that extra safety when its time to reef with full length teak hand rails on trunk cabin to hold-on to.
